About CultureWatch If you’d like to book Dick as a speaker for an upcoming event contact CRS Communications. (Act quickly, 2007 is almost full and 2008 is filling up fast!)

CultureWatch offers Dick Staub's (more about Dick Staub) daily commentary on movies, music, books and news stories "where belief meets real life."

Since the cultural revolution of the 60's Dick has observed that:

  1. There is a widespread spiritual search in America.
  2. It is taking place largely outside of organized religion.
  3. It is greatly influenced by the popular culture (film, music, books) which is today's storytelling medium.
  4. Unfortunately, today’s popular culture is generally superficial (mindless, diversionary, celebrity), soulless , driven by profits more than art, craft and ideas and is an unreliable spiritual guide.
  5. Today’s Christianity-Lite has taken on many of the marks of popular culture, and is often itself impoverished spiritually, intellectually and creatively.
  6. Every human being is created in God’s image and has spiritual, intellectual, creative moral and relational capacities as a result.
  7. Only individuals who are serious about faith, savvy about culture and skilled in relating the two can rekindle the intellectual, spiritual and creative roots in faith that can produce a richer culture.
  8. Dick Staub has spent his life observing, interpreting and communicating at the intersection of Christian faith and culture. Staubwatch explores Dick’s observations and experiences at the intersection of faith and culture. Seekers on Journey are provocative quotes Dick has gathered from his personal reading. Recent links includes a few articles Dick thinks are worth reading. Enjoy!
